Topic and Speaker Atrial fibrillation and stroke: focus on new oral anticoagulants

At the end of the presentation, participants (pharmacists and technicians) should be able to
  1. Describe the pathophysiology underlying the increased risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation
  2. Assess stroke risk using the CHADS2 and CHA2DS2Vasc scoring system
  3. Select appropriate anticoagulation therapy with emphasis on new oral anticoagulants
  4. Compare and contrast the risk and benefits of anticoagulation therapy
