Topic and Speaker Novel Beta-lactam/Beta-lactamase Inhibitor Combination Antibiotics for the Treatment of Gram-Negative Bacterial Infections

This continuing professional education program provides 1.0 contact hour (0.1 CEUs) of continuing pharmacy education.

Educational Objectives: At the end of this activity, Pharmacists will be able to:
  • Describe the scope, prevalence, and clinical implications of resistant gram-negative pathogen infections
  • Distinguish the mechanisms of resistance for multi-drug resistant organisms
  • Differentiate the current treatment options for gram-negative pathogens
  • Discuss the efficacy and safety of the new, FDA approved cephalosporin/beta-lactamase inhibitors
  • Determine the place in therapy of the cephalosporin/beta-lactamase inhibitors
At the completion of this activity, Pharmacy Technicians will be able to:
  • Describe the scope, prevalence, and clinical implications of resistant gram-negative pathogen infections
  • Review the current treatment options for gram-negative pathogens
  • Discuss the indications for the new, FDA approved cephalosporin/beta-lactamase inhibitors

Notes
  Pharmacy continuing education credit will be earned based on participation in this activity. Attendance and participation are required before obtaining credit. Any individual who is more than 10 minutes late to an activity or leaves an activity early will not be granted credit. To receive continuing education credit, your attendance must be verified, and a program evaluation must be completed and submitted at the end of the program. Credit will be issued through the MY CPE Monitor website.

NABP e-Profile ID numbers and participants' Month and Day of Birth are required for credit issuance. TSHP and the educational joint provider are not responsible for unissued education credits where the required information is either omitted, submitted incorrectly, or provided more than 45 days post-activity. TSHP will contact registrants once by email to attempt to obtain missing or invalid information. If this information is unable to be obtained, NABP and ACPE prohibit TSHP from issuing CPE credit. Participants have a maximum of 45 days post-event to request or confirm their credit issuance. No credit will be issued more than 60 days post-event.

RSVP   Members of AASHP may attend this activity without charge. If you are not a current AASHP member, you may RSVP at this time but must visit www.tshp.org to join TSHP and AASHP before attending this meeting.
