Educational Goal:  Inform participants about medications for managing venous thrombosis

Educational Objectives: After attending the presentation, the participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the epidemiology of venous thromboembolism (VTE).
  2. Identify factors that increase the risk of VTE
  3. Discuss current guidelines for the prevention and treatment of VTE
  4. Compare and contrast the benefits and limitations of various pharmacologic options used in the management of VTE.
  5. Discuss appropriate treatment selection and dosing considerations of antithrombotic agents in special patient populations
