Learning Objectives

OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this program, the attendee will be able to:

  1. Discuss the prevalence of acute hypertension.
  2. Describe treatment goals and common adverse events associated with over- and undertreatment of acute hypertension in the perioperative and emergency department settings.
  3. Review current and future I.V. antihypertensive therapies.
  4. Implement appropriate strategies regarding the use of I.V. antihypertensive therapies to increase patient safety and outcomes.
