DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Pharmacy supervisor and the direction of
the pharmacists, assists in the distributive functions of the
department by procuring, preparing, and distributing pharmaceuticals
according to standard policies.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS,
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA's and St. David's
"Patients First" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety
protocols and procedures. Supports and upholds St. David's Service
Excellence Standards. * Typing and use of computer keyboard; reading
of some technical medical information, physician orders, patient MARs,
checklists, and directions; math skills: basic math, algebra,
measurements of amounts; preparation of simple reports, completion of
forms and logs, writing telephone messages; communication via
telephone, computer and face to face with staff, patients, and small
groups; excellent interpersonal skills with patients and other health
care professionals.
EDUCATION: Required: High
School Diploma or G.E.D.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: None
Preferred: Six months as a
hospital pharmacy technician . Registered with the Texas State Board
of Pharmacy. Or, has an intern's card issued by an accredited School
of Pharmacy stating 30 hours of courses have been completed and is
currently enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy.
CREDENTIALS:
Required:
Must maintain a current registration with the Texas State Board of
Pharmacy. Must successfully complete all in-house training and testing
requirements in general procedures within 90 days of hire. Must

Pharmacy.

AASHP Constitution
The Austin Area
Society of Health-System Pharmacists Constitution has been amended with
changes to the by-laws. The changes were approved by the membership at
the October, 2007 meeting and the amended Constitution has been posted on our
website (click to download).
Thanks to the officers of AASHP and especially Deanna
Dossey, AASHP Past President, for spearheading the process of amending
the AASHP Constitution so that we may better serve the members of our
organization.
